As a (current) freelance designer, I come across a wide range of potential clients. Some of them are totally cool and understand what it is I do and what I need from them. Others expect me to do the job for free and “if I like it, I’ll pay you for it.”

Then, on occasion, you get someone who is just in their own category, possibly so excited at the prospect of hiring someone who knows what they’re doing that they don’t even read the questions I email them.
